Here you will find answers to the most common questions about staying at ONNI Village, our facilities, and infrastructure.
1. Is ONNI Village suitable for families with children?
Yes, ONNI Village is well-suited for families. Every cottage includes a dedicated kids’ playroom/bedroom, toys, books, and a creative corner with paper and pencils. We also provide a high chair, a set of children’s tableware, a travel cot (playpen), a baby bathtub, and a potty.
On-site, there is a shared sandy beach, a playground with a trampoline and zip line, as well as bicycles and balance bikes available for our younger guests.
2. Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets are welcome! There is an additional fee of €50 per pet for the entire duration of your stay.
3. Can I see the Northern Lights at ONNI Village?
Yes. ONNI Village is located on the shores of Lake Saimaa in South Karelia, far from bright city lights, which creates excellent conditions for viewing the Aurora Borealis. In clear weather, you can see them directly from the cottage windows or the terrace. The lights are typically visible from September to May. For your convenience, we recommend using the AURORA app to track the forecast.
4. How many people can stay in a cottage?
Lake View Cottage: Accommodates 6 guests in three bedrooms. An extra guest can be accommodated on the sofa or an additional bed (€25 per night).
Forest Cottage: Accommodates 4 guests in two bedrooms + 2 guests on the sofa bed in the living room.
5. What is included in the cottage equipment?
Each cottage features heating, hot water, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, stovetop, oven, kettle, drip coffee maker (for ground coffee), toaster, microwave, and a fridge-freezer. The living room has a Smart TV and a fireplace. The shower area includes an electric sauna and a washing machine. Bed linen and towels are not included; you may bring your own or rent them: €10 per set of bed linen and €5 for towels per person.
6. What kitchenware is provided?
The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and long-term stays. It includes pots, saucepans, frying pans, a grater, colander, cutting boards, kitchen knives, a sharpener, cheese slicer, vegetable peeler, can opener, cutlery, plates of various sizes, cups, salad bowls, and baking dishes.
7. Is there a sauna and a fireplace in the cottage?
Yes, every cottage has its own private electric sauna, which you can use at any time, as well as a fireplace. Firewood is provided free of charge. Additionally, there is a wood-heated lakeside sauna on the property, which can be rented for €50 for 3 hours of use (plus 1 hour for pre-heating).
8. What are the check-in and check-out times?
Standard check-in is from 16:00, and check-out is by 12:00. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability and costs an additional €10 per hour.
9. Are there boats and a boat launch?
A permanent boat launch (slipway) is available on-site for guests with their own boats. A rowing boat is included in the rental price and is available to guests without limits. Additionally, a 2.5 hp petrol outboard motor can be rented for €30 per day.
10. Is there parking? Can I drive up to the cottage?
Yes, you can drive directly to the front door of your cottage. Each cottage has its own free private parking space.
11. Can I use a grill or have a campfire?
Each cottage has a covered BBQ area with a charcoal grill and tools. You can bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid or purchase them on-site for €7 per bag of charcoal and €7 per bottle of lighter fluid. Using firewood in the charcoal grill is prohibited. Open campfires are only allowed in the designated campfire spot near the playground, which features a fire pit, grates, firewood, and a picnic table.
12. What about mosquitoes?
During the day, there are usually no mosquitoes near the cottages. They may appear in the evening after sunset, which is natural for the Finnish forest and lakeside environment. All cottages are equipped with mosquito nets, ensuring a comfortable stay indoors. If needed, you can use repellents or plug-in fumigators. For forest walks, long-sleeved clothing is usually sufficient.
13. Where is the nearest shop?
- Utula: The nearest small village shop (approx. 12 km).
- Ruokolahti: A grocery store (approx. 40 km).
- Imatra: Large supermarkets (approx. 56 km).
